MILAN–(BUSINESS WIRE)–This acquisition is a further step in realizing Cadmatic’s strong growth strategy, which expects the company to more than triple in size in the coming years.
EPC contractors and plant owner-operators use CLA’s software to manage piping materials and pipe supports, construction sites, multidisciplinary engineering data, online tendering, scheduling design and factory welding. CLA was founded in 2001 and employs 22 people in its office in Piacenza, 70 km south of Milan.
“CLA is a perfect strategic complement for us. They have impressive credentials especially in the key area of multinational EPC companies and our offerings do not have overlapping features. By integrating CLA’s materials and construction management products with Cadmatic’s design, engineering and information management solutions, we can offer integrated and advanced functionality and a one-stop shop for the benefit of our customers from design to construction and beyond. In addition to the products and the customer base, we also have access to the extensive materials and construction management knowledge they have developed over the years,” says Jukka Rantala, CEO of Cadmatic.
CLA COO and Deputy Managing Director Gian Mario Tagliaretti also sees the acquisition as a win-win situation.
“When you combine Cadmatic and CLA, you get something more than the sum of its parts. Cadmatic has traditionally been strong in plant, marine and building design, CLA has general engineering data management applications. Together we form a complete whole. CLA has developed a very strong position in the Italian-based industrial multinational market, but Cadmatic’s extensive global network means the integrated solution can be more successful internationally, we are the perfect team,” says Tagliaretti.
Cadmatic’s growth strategy envisions a strong position in the European and Indian process and energy industries, in the global maritime sector and in the local growing construction industry. CLA is the fourth major technology acquisition for Cadmatic in recent years. According to Rantala, organic growth and a high level of R&D and internal skills, as well as mergers and acquisitions will help the company create optimal value for its existing and new customers.
“Last year, our Process and Industry segment grew by more than 30%. We are growing organically, but strategic mergers and acquisitions, like with CLA, are also a cornerstone of our strategy. We are constantly looking for companies that strategically match our offer and our customers”.
Rantala says the acquisition is strategy-driven and the result of Cadmatic listening to its customers, being good partners, and providing customers with the software features they demand.
“When we see a clear customer need, we either develop the features, products and services ourselves or consider acquiring them from outside the company,” adds Rantala.
Cadmatic is a leading developer of digital and intelligent 3D design and information management software solutions for the energy, process, marine and construction industries.
