Luxury cruise ship with ‘movies under the stars’, casino and nightclub docked in Liverpool

A luxury cruise ship with a cinema, casino and nightclub is due to dock in Liverpool.

The Emerald Princess is due to arrive at the Liverpool Cruise Terminal on Saturday May 14 and is the height of luxury. The ship was launched from the Italian shipyard Fincantieri Monfalcone on June 1, 2006. She was christened on May 13, 2007 in Greece.

The Princess Emerald began offering 12-day Mediterranean and Greek island cruises in 2007, but was then repositioned to Fort Lauderdale in the fall to sail the Caribbean. It has 19 decks and 1,539 passenger cabins and 1,200 crew members.

On Saturday May 14, the ship will arrive in the city as part of its 12-day voyage to the British Isles. The cruise ship will also stop at places such as Guernsey, Cork, Dublin, Belfast, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Passengers on board can enjoy an array of activities including shops, art galleries and auctions, a casino, theatre, swimming pools and a nightclub. There is also a wide range of restaurants. Princess Cruises said: “Every hour our chefs are busy cooking, grilling and sautéing tasty dishes from scratch.

“Princess offers unrivaled inclusive dining options throughout the ship with a wide range of culinary delights to suit every palate, from endless buffet choices to gourmet pizza, frozen treats, decadent desserts and more.”

People will never board the ship either as there will be “movies under the stars”, music and dancing, “world festivals” and cocktail parties. There is also entertainment for children from 3 years old through adolescence.

Commenting on this year’s cruise season, John Mawer, Head of Cruise Operations at Cruise Liverpool, said: ‘We look forward to marking the 15th anniversary of Liverpool Cruise Terminal later this year, and what better way to do so than to ensure that record breaking ships and passengers visit our shores and enjoy Liverpool’s famous welcome.

“We also want 2022 to be the year we make progress in reducing the environmental impact of ships on the city, there is still a long way to go but talks are already underway and I am delighted to be part of the conversation on behalf of Liverpool.”

Voyages on the Emerald Princess start at £569 pp and you can find more information here.
