Pittsburgh native Fega Onofeghara-Omoko, a multi-sport star at Berean Christian High School, has signed with Cal Maritime Men’s Soccer, head coach Mike Carvalho announced.
Onofeghara-Omoko will join the Keelhaulers as a true freshman who plans to pursue a degree in marine engineering technology throughout his college career.
“I am blessed and thrilled to have this opportunity and to share this experience with my family,” Onofeghara-Omoko said in a press release. “I want to thank God, my family and the coaching staff at Cal Maritime for this chance to play this game for another four years. I’m excited to join this program and compete with my teammates. There are many players whose sports career ends after high school. I have the chance to continue to practice the sport that I love; It’s a dream come true.”
Born in Nigeria before moving to Northern California, Onofeghara-Omoko competed in six sports throughout his tenure at Walnut Creek-based Berean Christian: soccer, soccer, basketball, track and field, baseball and cross-country. country.
In each of his last three seasons, members of the BCHS football program chose Onofeghara-Omoko as their team captain.
After graduating, Onofeghara-Omoko wants to pursue a career in the Coast Guard or the engineering industry.
“I chose Cal Maritime because they offered the major that suited my interests and offered me to continue playing football,” Onofeghara-Omoko said. “To continue my studies and to play sports at the college level is truly a blessing.”
