WINDERMERE, Fla .– After a bumpy start to early fall, the Florida men’s golf team ended Isleworth Collegiate’s final day and fall season on a high note on Tuesday.
The Gators had a combined 6 under (282) for their best round of the tournament and the second lowest of the fall to finish T5. Today’s round was tied for last day’s low and third lowest overall.
Fred biondi led the way with a 67 (-5) behind an impeccable front nine and only one bogeying, on the last hole of the day. His performance was one shot off his career low of 66 he set at the Sea Best Invitational in 2020. Biondi jumped 30 spots to record his first fall top-25 at T13 as his 67 were tied for the lowest round in an event.
For the second consecutive day Jean DuBois sank an eagle at Isleworth Country Club. He had an exit of less than 1 for his best round of the tournament, tied for 41st. UF has patented the most eagles in the field with three – DuBois (2), Biondi (1) and Joe pagdin (1)
Junior Yuxin Lin remained constant throughout the week finishing with a straight 71 (-1) in the final two laps for a 10th place finish.
The trio of Ricky Castillo, Giovanni Manzoni and Pagdin all came in at 50th place.
The Gators open the spring season at the Sea Best Invitational on January 31, 2022, then host the VyStar Gators Invitational from February 12 to 13.
The Head Coach JC Deacon…
âThanks to Brett Cafferty and everyone in Isleworth for hosting what has always been one of the finest events in college golf.
Today’s final round was a great way to end what has been an incredibly humbling golf semester. We have the highest goals in our program and have struggled to meet them this fall. Fortunately, it is still early days and we have time to get it right before the championship season begins. I can promise you motivation won’t be an issue for Gator Golf this winter. ”
“I’m happy that Fred biondi got a taste of the player he can be. His 67 today was a phenomenal round and by far anyone’s lowest score on the final day. He should be a constant contributor to us and today is proof of that. ”
